Camden Daffodil Festival

Event Map

1. Daniel Gardens - 2220 Maul road. Master Gardener or self guided tours. Eight acres in Japanese Garden, featuring millions of daffodils and several hundred varieties of trees. Previous home of the Daffodil Festival.

 

 

2. Dawson Daffodil Farm - Old Wire Road. Self guided tours. One of the South's largest and most desireable collections of daffodils. The unique plants were hybridized by self-taught botanist, Mrs. O. L. Fellers. Now owned and protected by John Dawson, Jr.

 

3. Grace Hill Estate - Old Wire road. Self guided tours. One of the most prestigious gardens in Ouachita County. Owned and landscaped by Joy & Frank Wietcha and the only garden where fresh daffodils can be picked.

4. Oakland Farm - 2474 Oakland. Drive by tours. Home of historic Tate Barn and the Anual BPW Barn Sale. Massive plantings of daffodils in woodland setting by Ruth Tate, who aquired the bulbs from the Mrs. O. L. Fellers' collection.


A. McCollum-Chidester House Museum - 926 Washington Street. Guided tours. The centerpiece of Camden's history, this 1847 home features Chidester Family furnishings from 1863. During the Civil War, this home was occupied by both the North and the South. $5.00


B. Powell-Dietrich Home - 305 California St. Guided tours. Built in 1859, this is one of Camden's most prestigious antibellum homes. Steeped in 19th century history. Completely restored to its original beauty and furnishings by Dr. Fred Dietrich. $5.00


C. Richie-Crawford-Eppinette Home - 430 Clifton Street. Guided tours. Built circa 1909. The disappearence of Maude Crawford, a local attorney, from this home in 1957 remains an unsolved mystery. Recently renovated by the current owners, Bruce & Jodie Eppinette.


D. Hale Farm Log cabin Village - 438 Fairview Road. Owner guided tours Experience the past through a visit to eight authentic log cabins restored and preserved by Dr. Ralph & Patsy Hale. Camden's hidden treasure! $5.00

E. Missouri Pacific Railroad Depot (Now home to the Main Street Camden Area Chamber of Commerce.) - Built in 1913 and restored in 1994. The depot served first as a passenger station, then primarily as a freight station until it closed in December of 1983. No admission charge.


F. Clifton-Greening Historical District - Recently listed on the State Registry of Historical Districts. Located in the blocks of Clifton and Greening Streets. Features homes built in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Great walking tour!


G. Oakland Confederate Cemetery - Established in 1830 - Enjoy Cemetery Walk with live interpretations. Here lie the pioneers of Camden: first doctor, first lawyer, first nerchants; resting place for hundreds of the South's brave Confederate Soldiers. A major restoration has just been completed. $5.00, children 6-12 $2.00, under 6 free.

H. Civil War Military Encampment with Uniformed Re-Enactors - Downtown on the Riverfront. Step into the past and see how these men lived and died. Hear the roar of cannons across the river banks. Flag ceremonies at Oakland Confederate Cemetery.
